EVENT AWARDS & TROPHIES
The following Trophies are Awarded Annually during competition at our Annual Corgi Specialty:
The Caroline Kierstead Trophy, given in her memory by her many friends, is presented to the Best Puppy in Sweepstakes . Caroline Kierstead was a Charter Member of Mayflower and a beloved presence at all of our gatherings until her death. Her thoughtfulness, enthusiasm and kindness to new Corgi owners make this trophy an especially appropriate one.
The Marjorie Wherry Trophy is a trophy in honor of Marjorie Wherry who died in 1989. She was also a Charter Member of Mayflower, and served as the club’s second president. Marjorie was primarily interested in performance events, so this trophy, given in her memory by her many friends, was presented for the first time at the Seventh Corgi Classic for the dog that one High in Trial in Regular Obedience Classes.
The Georgianna Marshall Perpetual Commemorative Trophy was awarded for the first time in June, 2008. This trophy will be presented each year at our Specialty to the Best Puppy in the Regular Classes. Mayflower will retain the trophy, but a plaque will be given to the winner at our Specialty. The trophy reads: Mayflower Pembroke Welsh Corgi Club in Memory of Arbor Festiniog Mary Read, Cricket” for Georgianna Marshall & Carol Meaney.
MEMORIAL FUND –This fund has been established for donations in memory of deceased members of the Mayflower Pembroke Welsh Corgi Club. Upon the death of any member, the Club will give a sum of $25.00 to this Fund in memory of the deceased member. This Fund will provide the means of awarding a scholarship to a student at a Veterinary School. The Award will be given to the Best of Winners at each Mayflower Specialty. The owner of the Best of Winners will choose the Vet school he desires the Award to go to that year. A certificate will be given by the club to commemorate this Award to the owner of the winner each year.

The Dick Blair Memorial Trophy was presented for the first time at the Second Mayflower sponsored AKC Herding Test and Trial in October 1991. This trophy is awarded to the Highest Scoring Corgi in Trial. Dick became a member in 1979; not only will he be remembered for designing our Mayflower logo, but he was instrumental in starting our Performance Events committee. He was Show Secretary for our first AKC Herding Test and Trial in 1990.

THE FOLLOWING AWARDS HAVE BEEN RETIRED.
The Thirza P. Smith Trophy is awarded each year in memory of her parents, to the Corgi judged Best Puppy at our Fall Match. This Perpetual Trophy is a mahogany plaque on which is mounted a brass plate engraved with the name of the winning puppy’s kennel name. The owner of the puppy keeps this trophy for one year; the winner is also given a “keeper” plaque.
The Howard Miner Memorial Trophy is awarded to the Corgi judged Best In Fall Match.
