Judge: Mr. Vincent Savioli (AUBREY) I would like to thank the Mayflower Club for allowing me to judge the Winter Carnival Match. I am very proud to be a member of this great club, whose members really take an active part. I was very pleased with the entry. I had some very promising puppies that I look forward to seeing in the ring in the future. If I had one concern, it would be with the fronts on some of the entries. I saw quite a few that were wide coming at me. Although it could be just a stage, I did see a number of dogs who wanted to really toe out on the move and standing. Thank you to my ring stewards, Anne Bowes and Carla Hellander, who kept me on track. Karen Baker did a wonderful job organizing the day. Thank you to the club for the great tote bag. ***PUPPY DOGS, 3-6 MONTHS***
1. ARBOR FESTINIOG BARRY (Ch. Corgard Forbidden Memories, x Festiniog Arbor Best Bet) Breeders/Owners: K. Broska & M. Thomas. A nice, red male, who has a lot of promise. He had beautiful angles and was clean coming and going with a pleasing head. He moved around the ring nicely for a very young male.
2. CITYSIDE WINDDANCER OUTLAW (Ch. Dalarno Moondance Magic Brew x Ch. WindDancer Step Back N Thyme) Breeder: Mary DeToma. Owner: Laurie Greenleve. Another nice tri male who also was a very good mover. He was not as clean coming at you as the first dog, but this could just be a stage at this age. He made his handler work harder on the table.
***PUPPY DOGS, 6-9 MONTHS***
1. ZYDAHAYES ADMIRALS SALUTE (Cahida Barti DDU x Cinnonie Star Minx of Zydahayes) Breeder: Lynne Creech. Owners: Mary Elizabeth Simpson & Cathy Santarsiero. This male had a very beautiful head, and was a nice mover and clean coming and going. He was a little unsettled going around the ring and was a handful for his owner. This is one I will like to see in six months.
2. IVYSEDGE DEVIL MAY CARE (Ch. Triple H Once In A Brew Moon x Ch. Windhamlair Pocahantas) Breeder/Owner: Amy Scheibenpflug. This is also a promising male who is just in an awkward stage and needs to grow into himself. He did not have the bone of #1. He sometimes would get lazy with his front when standing.
3. MYSTICAL ANDEAN HILLSTAR (Woodbine Flashy Alibi x Mystical Classified Ad) Breeder/Owner: Deborah Beal. This young tri male had a beautiful head and was not the mover of #1 & 2. I would prefer him to be a little longer but that can still come, and he will be one to watch as he grows older.
4. IVYSEDGE DEVIL’S ADVOCATE (Ch. Triple H Once In A Brew Moon x Ch. Windhamlair Pocahantas) Breeder: Amy Scheibenpflug. Owners: Ellen Schusterson & Amy Scheibenpflug. This young male was a nice mover. However on this day his topline was high in the rear and his front was not his fortune. This said, he could be totally different in a few months as he grows on.
***PUPPY DOGS, 9-12 MONTHS***
This class was the strongest class of the day, which surprised me because usually at this age dogs can be at a very awkward stage and not so pleasing. However, the dogs in this class were very together and I enjoyed judging this class.
1. SANDFOX ORION OF REDBROOK (Byendebrok Maplecreek Baccarat PT x Sandfox Heavenly Body) Breeder: Vicki Sandage DVM. Owners: Roberta & Terry Dana. This dog caught my eye as soon as he came into the ring. This male looked very similar to dogs we have bred. He had a lovely masculine head but not overdone. He had a beautiful prosternum, with a nice layback of shoulder, and it all came together with his side gate. His topline was level on the move. This dog was in strong contention for best puppy. If there was one fault, it would be that he toes in slightly when coming at you. With that said, I still would have taken him home.
2. SANDFOX SUPER NOVA (Byendebrok Maplecreek Baccarat PT x Sandfox Heavenly Body) Breeder: Vicki Sandage DVM. Owners: Linda Thompson & Vicki Sandage DVM. This dog is a litter mate to #1 and was very similar to #1; however, he did not have the substance or bone as his littermate. This dog should be very nice come 18 months of age.
3. XIII MAPLES STAR TO STEER BY (Twinan Another Chance for Salvenik x XIII Maples Star Castle) Breeders: Ellen Childs & Mark Russo. Owners: Sally Cooper & Mark Russo. This young tri male was very nice also but lost out on the movement of the first two dogs. He had a level topline on the move. I would like to see a little more neck.
4. XIII MAPLES STARBUCK AT OAKHILL (Twinan Another Chance for Salvenik x XIII Maples Star Castle) Breeders: Ellen Childs & Mark Russo. Owners: Michael Gosselin & Ellen Childs. This male is a litter mate to #3. I would prefer more length and neck and his angles weren’t as good as the above dogs. He had a very attractive head with a nice oval foot.
***BRED BY EXHIBITOR DOG***
1. CONANT BROOK FARM STAR GAZER (Ch. Llandian’s Heaven Knows x XIII Maples Star of Conant BR) Breeders: Colleen Pisarski & Ellen Childs. Owner: Colleen Pisarski: This tri dog has a pleasing head. I would like to see more substance and he was wide coming at you.
PUPPY BITCHES, 3-6 MONTHS
1. ARBOR FESTINIOG LOLA (Ch. Corgard Forbidden Memories x Festiniog Arbor Best Bet) Breeders/Owners: K. Broska & M. Thomas. This little tri girl caught my eye as soon as she came into the ring. She had such ring presence and stood there saying “look at me.” She had a beautiful shoulder and her movement on the side did not let her down. She was sound coming and going. She had a head to die for, with nice dark eyes—a beautiful eye makeup. On this day she wasn’t going to be denied and I was pleased to award her BEST PUPPY AND BEST IN MATCH.
2. JORASH FOXWAY FIELDER’S CHOICE (Stafford Moonlight Magic Legacy x Ch. Jorash Foxway Who’s On First) Breeder/Owner: Ellen Schusterson. There was not much difference between this bitch and the first bitch. She had a beautiful shoulder with nice bone and very sound on the move. On this day she was just a little high in the rear, and that cost her first place. Knowing this age, her topline was probably level the next day, as we know these things change daily. I would take both of these bitches home with me.
3. OAKHILL SWEET IDEA (Ch. XIII Maples Stellar Idea CD x WindDancer Back Talk) Breeder/Owner: Michael Gosselin. This bitch was a beautiful mover with a nice shoulder and headpiece. However, she just happened to be in the same class with the first two placings. She is very promising and should do some nice winning as she grows.
4. BRUMBAER’S HAVING A PARTY (Ch. Brumbaer’s Tell Tale Heart x Brumbaer’s Its All About Me) Breeders/Owners: Sue King & Karen Fruhmann. This bitch had the best head of the group and when standing she was breathtaking. She is very low to the ground and on the move her front was a little wide coming at you. She also had to deal with the best bitches of the day.
***PUPPY BITCHES, 6-9 MONTHS***
1. ARBOR FESTINIOG DREAMCALLER (Ch. Twinan Another Chance for Salvenik x Ch. Arbor Festiniog Mary Reade) Breeders: K. Broska & Carol Meaney. Owners: K. Broska & M. Thomas. This was a very pretty tri girl who had nice sidegate and was very sound coming and going. She has a nice prosternum and layback of shoulder and should do some winning as she gets older.
2. IVYSEDGE THE DEVIL MADE ME DO IT (Ch. Triple H Once In A Brew Moon x Ch. Windhamlair Pocahantas) Breeder: Amy Scheibenpflug. Owner: Lisa Donnelly. This also a very nice bitch who was considered for #1 She had nice length of back and a nice shoulder. On this day the only thing that held her back was that she was a little off in topline.
3. REINWOOD ONE FOR THE MONEY (Ch. Tallyrand No Greater Love x Ch. Heronsway Two For the Show) Breeders: Cathy Santarsiero, Mary Elizabeth Simpson, Anne Bowes. Owners: Mary Elizabeth Simpson & Cathy Santarsiero. This bitch had a to-die for headpiece and she was considered for #1. She was a little wild today and was a handful for her owner. Her topline was high in the rear today, but I am sure that will settle down with age.
4. MYSTICAL CALLIOPE (Ch. Woodbine Flashy Alibi x Mystical Classified Ad) Breeder/Owner: Deborah Beal. This tri girl has nice length of back with a nice topline. She doesn’t have the angles as the above bitches and that hurt her movement on the side.
***PUPPY BITCHES, 9-12 MONTHS***
1. MERTHYR WANDA BE SINFUL (Vlandyn Star Raider x Merthyr Shaud O Lace) Breeder: Leslie Chalmers. Owner: Mari Carroll: This red bitch had a beautiful shoulder and prosternum. She was very sound. She seemed a little heavy today and that caused her topline to be slightly off.
2. XIII MAPLES CELESTE CONANT BROOK (Ch. Twinan Another Chance for Salvenik x Ch. XIII Maples Star Castle) Breeders: Ellen C. Childs & Mark Russo. Owners: Colleen Pisarski & Ellen C. Childs. This tri dog had nice length of back and good angles. She did not have the movement of the first dog. I preferred the head of #1.
3. LIONCREST LASTING IMPRESSION (Ch. Tallyrand Archangel Michael ROMX x Ch. Festiniog She’s My Dinah Lee TD) Breeders/Owners: Tara Daly, Margaret Daly, C. Daly, J. Daly. This red/white bitch had a pretty head, but I would prefer a bigger ear. She was a little straighter in front and that restricted her movement. I would also like to see more length of back.
***BRED BY EXHIBITOR BITCH***
1. WALBORAH BROGAN WHIMSEY (Ch. Windcrest Pilgrim’s Pride x Brogan Walborah Winter Park) Breeders/Owners: Deborah Harper & Mari Carroll. This pretty bitch had a beautiful shoulder with nice layback and a nice prosternum. She was sound all the way around. She looks like she could lose a pound. Pleased to award her BEST ADULT. Unfortunately today she met up with my Best Puppy for Best in Match.
